Loved. Not the most phenomenal show I have ever seen, but the main character Huey Calhoon is played very well. His end song, "Memphis Lives in Me" gives me chills. The premise is Huey is the first white DJ who puts Black music on the white music station. He also has a biracial relationship. The story is about their struggle living in the south in the 50's trying to make Felicia (his girlfriend) a singer and his rise to fame for making black music popular. It is a fun number with high energy numbers with a high dose of drama and big notes. I definitely give it a positive recommendation! As well I should since it is up for Best New Musical in the Tony's this year.
